These Tahini & Date Fudge Squares take 10 minutes of prep time, require no baking, and have NO SUGAR. Whats the secret? Dates.

I feel like dates are that fruit that we forget about all the time. I grew up in Bahrain, surrounded by date trees. In August, you would literally be able to pick dates from the tree in your garden. Yet it’s only really now, that I’m starting to appreciate just how amazing they are. With this recipe, they add the texture, the sweetness and of course, the colour!

Serving Suggestions:

You can press a nut such as a walnut or almond into the top of each square before you freeze the mixture to add a little crunch. Similarly, you can sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top also, but both of these are completely optional! Personally, I just sprinkled sea salt on the top before I served mine. The squares are quite sweet so smaller squares are recommended. Also, serving with a cup of (unsweetened) tea or coffee would be good!

A guilt-free zero-sugar dessert or snack to satisfy those cravings! Make and store in the fridge or freezer for when you need a pick-me up!

  • 1 cup pitted dates (around 175 grams)
  • ½ cup tahini
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • sea salt for serving


  • Add the dates, tahini and coconut oil to the food processor. Mix well until it forms a thick paste. Taste and adjust accordingly.
  • Line a baking tray with baking paper. Press the mixture into the tray with a spatula. Place in the freezer to set.
  • Remove from the freezer and cut into small squares. Sprinkle with sea salt. Store in the freezer.

Recipe Notes:

You can add half a cup of rolled oats to the mixture and turn the dessert into a more granola energy bar type of snack. Or you can add in nuts.
